The Professional Communication Society (PCS) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) held its annual international meeting, the International Professional Communication Conference (IPCC), this year in Seattle, October 1-3, 2007. The theme for this year’s conference was "Engineering the Future of Human Communication".

Randall Walker, MD presented the research paper entitled: "Visual-Syntactic Text-Formatting: Theoretical Basis and Empirical Evidence for Impact on Human Reading" co-authored by Phil Schloss, BSEE, Adam Gordon, Charles Vogel, PhD Charles R. Fletcher, PhD, and Stan Walker, MD. This paper provides an extensive review of the neurocognitive and visual processing principles upon which the Live Ink® formatting method is founded, and presents in detail the results of yearlong, classroom-based, randomized controlled research conducted at the High School level.
